Common Faults and Troubleshooting Methods of Chillers
First, the reasons for the failure of the chiller:
- The overload protector on the AC contactor of the chiller operates.
- The chiller capacitor is burned out (single-phase).
- Check whether the coil winding of the chiller is normal. Generally, the winding value should be greater than 7.
Chiller exclusion method:
- Lightly press the RESET reset button in the overcurrent protector.
- Replace the capacitor of the chiller.
- If it is determined that it is a winding problem, please replace the compressor.
Second, the power failure (stop thermostat no display, etc.) reasons:
- Mains disconnection, phase loss and instability.
- Check whether the phase sequence protector is burnt out.
- The fuse is burned out.
Method of exclusion:
- Check whether the mains is normal, and work again after the mains is normal.
- Replace the phase sequence protector.
- Replace the fuse.
Third, the high and low pressure switch failure (the chilled water pump runs but the compressor stops) reasons:
- The cold water group and industrial chiller filter are blocked.
- The lack of refrigerant in the chiller system causes a low pressure alarm.
- The circulating cooling water stops working and causes high pressure alarm.
- The cooling fan of the chiller heat exchanger stops working, causing a high pressure alarm.
Method of exclusion:
- Clean the filter or replace the filter of the same type.
- Supplement refrigerant for chillers and industrial chiller systems.
- Check whether the water circulating pump of the chiller is working normally, and repair or replace it concurrently.
- Check whether the cooling fan of the heat exchanger works normally, and repair or replace it.
Notice:
- Before removing the above faults, the chiller and industrial chiller should check whether the power connection lines are disconnected, damaged, short-circuited, etc., to avoid unnecessary troubles during maintenance.
- When the chiller machine fails, professionals should be invited to check and maintain the machine. It is strictly forbidden to force the machine to start when the machine is in trouble.
Fourth, the water pump failure (the water pump stops working and other displays are normal) reasons:
- The overload protector on the AC contactor of the chiller water pump operates.
- The chiller water pump capacitor is burned out (single-phase).
- The problems of the chiller water pump itself, such as: coil burnout, bearing necrosis, etc.
Method of exclusion:
- Lightly press the RESET reset button in the overcurrent protector of the chiller.
- Replace the capacitor.
- Replace the water pump (pay attention to the direction of the water pump when replacing the water pump).
