Why do Chillers need to be Cleaned Regularly?

Why do chillers need to be cleaned regularly? Because the chiller has been used for a long time, there are often some dirt accumulations in the chiller pipes or water tanks, so it needs to be cleaned regularly.

So, how did the dirt accumulation in the chiller come from?

  1. Chemical processor agent

If zinc salt or phosphate corrosion inhibitor is added to the water circulation system, there will be formation of zinc or phosphate scale. Therefore, we need to maintain the chiller frequently, not only to ensure its cooling capacity, but also to prolong the service life of the chiller.

  1. Leakage of process medium

Leakage of the chiller, especially oil leakage or some organic matter causes the accumulation of sludge.

  1. Tap water

Untreated poor replenishment water will bring sediment, microorganisms, suspended solids, etc. During the cleaning process, it is also possible that the hydrolysis product of the mixture, aluminum or iron ions, will be in the replenishment water. Regardless of whether it has been pretreated or not, the dissolved salts in the make-up water will be carried into the circulating water system.

  1. Air

Silt, dust, microorganisms and their spores will be brought into the circulation system along with the air, and sometimes insects will also be brought into the brought system, causing blockage of the heat exchanger. When the environment around the cooling tower is polluted, corrosive gases such as hydrogen sulfide, chlorine dioxide, and ammonia will react in the unit and directly cause accumulation.
