Main Parameters for the Operation of Chiller Refrigeration System

The operating parameters of industrial chillers have a great impact on the economy and safety of their work. In the refrigeration system of industrial chillers, the following operating parameters are for your reference:

  1. Evaporation temperature and evaporation pressure

The evaporation temperature of the industrial chiller can be reflected by the evaporation pressure indicated by the pressure gauge installed at the suction shut-off valve end of the compressor. The evaporating temperature and evaporating pressure are determined according to the requirements of the refrigeration system. If the parameters are too high, they cannot meet the cooling needs of the chiller. If the parameters are too low, the cooling capacity of the compressor will be reduced, and the economical operation of the compressor will be poor.

  1. Condensing temperature and condensing pressure

The condensing temperature of the refrigerant can be based on the reading of the pressure gauge on the condenser ball. The determination of the condensation temperature is related to the temperature of the coolant, the flow rate and the form of the condenser. In general, the condensing temperature of the air-cooled chiller/water-cooled chiller is 3~5°C higher than the cooling water outlet temperature, and 10~15°C higher than the forced cooling air inlet temperature.

  1. The suction temperature of the compressor

The suction temperature of the compressor refers to the refrigerant temperature read from the thermometer in front of the compressor suction shut-off valve. In order to ensure the safe operation of the heart-compressor of the air-cooled chiller/water-cooled chiller and prevent the liquid hammer phenomenon, the suction temperature is a little higher than the evaporation temperature. In the Freon-cooled air-cooled chiller/water-cooled chiller with regenerator, it is appropriate to maintain the suction temperature of 15°C. For the ammonia-refrigerated air-cooled chiller/water-cooled chiller, the suction superheat is generally 10°C about.

  1. The discharge temperature of the compressor

The air-cooled chiller/water-cooled chiller compressor discharge temperature can be read from the thermometer on the discharge line. It is related to the adiabatic index, compression ratio and suction temperature of the refrigerant. The higher the suction temperature, the higher the compression ratio, the higher the exhaust temperature, and vice versa.

  1. Supercooling temperature before throttling

Liquid subcooling before throttling can provide high cooling effect. The subcooling temperature can be measured from a thermometer on the liquid line before the throttle valve. In general, it is 1.5~3℃ higher than the outlet temperature of the cooling water of the subcooler.

The operating parameters of the industrial chiller have a great impact on the chiller. The purpose of adjusting the main parameters of the refrigeration system is to control each parameter so that it operates under the most economical and reasonable conditions.
